According to the 2020 census, the Hispanic and Latino population of the City of Reading is nearly 69%, up from 58% in 2010. To meet the needs of this growing population, Penn State Berks is expanding its efforts to engage with and support the local Hispanic and Latino communities with several new initiatives.
Teaching and Learning with Technology (TLT), part of Penn State University Libraries, has announced the Teaching and Learning Technologies Faculty Advisory Committee for the 2024-25 academic year. The committee is pivotal in guiding TLT on integrating technology within teaching and learning at Penn State.
As part of the college’s ongoing efforts to engage with and support the local Hispanic and Latino communities, Penn State Berks will celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month, Sept. 15–Oct. 15, with a variety of vibrant events, educational presentations and cultural showcases. These events include dynamic speakers, Latin cuisine, music, dancing and much more. All events are free and open to the public and most are held at Penn State Berks, except "Enhance Your Customer Service" with Rosa Julia Parra, which will be held at Centro Hispano Daniel Torres in downtown Reading.
Penn State Berks kicked off the 2024-25 academic year with its sixth annual convocation ceremony for incoming and transfer students to welcome the members of the Class of 2028 to campus. The ceremony was held Aug. 26 under the tent on Perkins Plaza.
Penn State Berks will welcome approximately 360 first-year students to its residential community as part of the campus' annual orientation program beginning on Friday, Aug. 23, 2024, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Students should refer to the campus map for move-in directions. Returning students will move in from Saturday, Aug. 24, and Sunday, Aug. 25. Welcome Weekend programs and activities will be held from Aug. 23 through Aug. 25.

High school seniors and their families are invited to attend the Penn State Berks Spend a Summer Evening Tours from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, July 17, or the Spend a Summer Morning Information Session from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Aug. 10.
Penn State Berks has named over 710 students to the spring 2024 dean’s list. To earn a dean’s list designation, students must end the semester with a 3.5 grade-point average or higher.
